Van Halen's announced comeback with original singer David Lee Roth has been shelved before it has even happened.
The new line-up of Van Halen was to include Eddie Van Halen's son Wolfgang who now officially beats Gary Cherone as the least time in the band.Wolfie replaced original bass player Michael Anthony who was either fired or left on his own accord, depending on who you speak with.
The reunion with Roth got off to a shaky start when Eddie's girlfriend (and former porn star) Janie Liseweski put out a press release announcing the reunion before it had been run by David Lee Roth.
While Spinal tap may have originally been based on Black Sabbath, Van Halen is sure to inspire a sequel.
Roth left the band in 1985 and was replaced by Sammy Hagar. Hagar found out he was dumped in 1998 when he read about it in the press. Former Extreme singer Gary Cherone came in for a third version of the band but didn't survive past one album. Hagar returned for a tour in 2004, but left citing issues with Eddie Van Halen for his second departure.
After Anthony was dumped for no apparent reason, he went out on tour last year with Hagar performing a complete Van Halen setlist.
Hagar and Roth did a similar thing a few years earlier, touring as Sam and Dave and performing for the first time, the complete Van Halen catalogue with original voices ... minus Van Halen.
Warner Music is due to release a new Best of Van Halen featuring the Roth years later this year. It is uncertain if the album will ever be released.
