New Zealand band Evermore will score their first number one song on Australia's ARIA chart this week with the song 'Light Surrounding You'.
The Brothers Hume, Peter, Jon and Dann, are one of the hardest working bands on the Australian music circuit.More than 300 shows, went into touring their albums and it has paid off in an MTV Award, a New Zealand Music Award, the APRA Silver Scroll and 5 ARIA nominations. Evermore has also scored platinum with both of their albums.
Despite the success of the first album 'Dreams', Evermore didn't suffer from the "what to do next syndrome" that haunts a lot of bands. Instead, the success had the opposite effect on the brothers. Dann wrote nearly a song a day in preparation for the album, drawing inspiration from the constant playing of Beatles, Bowie and Dylan albums during the creative process.
Congratulations to Evermore on their first number one. It is well deserved.
Evermore is signed to Seymour Stein's Sire Records label in the USA. They will showcase this year at SxSW in Austin, Texas.
