UK Baroque pop sensation Florence Welch talks about album number two.
Before her and her backing group's impending performance at the MTV Awards this year, Welch has talked to BBC6 about following up her scorching 2009 debut Lungs. She said, "I'm definitely going to work with a couple of new people. I'm hoping I'll have some time off in September and then in October or November time I'll start really concentrating on doing the full thing."
Welch noted that she's been listening to Tom Waits, Crystal Castles, Chad VanGaalen, and "weird French new rave stuff" to prepare, saying "It kind of sinks in subliminally I think."
While the collaborations she created on Lungs were certainly eclectic, her future process sounds even more off-kilter.
She revealed, "The first one was animal and anatomical and this one is chemical and elemental but my thought process changes so quickly from one song to the other so I can never say what the whole theme of the album is going to be."
Welch had said to NME in March that she has already spent two-weeks in the studio with producer Paul Epworth, and has already spoken about two completed tracks, the 7-minute 'Strangeness And Charm' and a song about "rainbows and prisms" called 'Spectrum'.
