Pennywise and Alesana have spoken about the assault claims at Warped.
Both bands have spoken to Alternative Press, the outlet that Alesana first sent a press release to claiming that two Pennywise members trashed their bus and assaulted them on the Denver leg of Warped.Fletcher Dragge, the gargantuan Pennywise guitarist, said that it was a mere misunderstanding. He and bassist Randy Bradbury thought they were actually visiting the "very distinctive" RV of pals Rev. Payton's Big Damn Band.
They went in and when Alesana returned the emo band told the punk interlopers to leave.
Dragge said that upon being asked to vacate the bus, he said "I'm gonna make a sandwich real quick." Of course, that was when the scuffle began in the cramped confines of the RV, ending up with Fletcher getting tasered by Denver police.
He told AP, "They blasted me with the taser about five times, but I used to be an electrician, so I'm used to it. [Laughs.] We weren't looking for a fight. We were just looking for the Rev."
Fletcher then apologised and said, "We have nothing against those guys and we're thankful they dropped the charges. I'm sure we'll end up on tour, having a beer with them and laughing about it."
Later Alesana frontman Shawn Milke replied via AP:
"We would like to thank Fletcher of Pennywise for publicly apologizing for the incident that took place earlier this week. We have been and will always be fans of Pennywise, and we look forward to touring Australia with those dudes. I guess next time we will just hang a sign on our door that says, 'This is not the bus of the Reverend Peyton.'"
"Mistakes happen. For Alesana and Pennywise, this is already water under the bridge, and we urge you all to please do the same. Touring is about music and friendship, but unfortunately sometimes these things happen. We look forward to that beer, Fletcher."
The beer will likely happen at Australia's Soundwave Festival early next year when the bands share a stage once again.
