The third generation of the Carter Family, The Carter Family III, has formed.
Dale Jett, the grandson of A.P. and Sara Carter, John Carter Cash, the son of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash and his wife Laura are The Cater Family III.Alvin Pleasant (A.P.) Carter and Sara Carter formed the original Carter Family group in 1927. They made their first recording on August 2, 1927.
The second generation featured John's mother June Carter who later married Johnny Cash. John Carter Cash is their only son.
The Carter Family III will release the album 'Past and Present' on August 24, 2010. It will feature new songs written by Dale and John and some family treasures.
