Shock Records has been taken over DVD replication company Regency Media after Regency acquired the assets of the troubled record company yesterday.
The news comes a few months after Shock closed the businesses Shock Music Publishing and distribution company One Stop Entertainment Group after the two companies reported losses of $9 million for the year to June 2008.Shock had a 22-year run releasing music for over 15,000 artists including 1500 Australian acts and generating more than $200 million in royalties for the artists.
In a statement, Shock founder David Williams said that moving forward, "Regency and Shock will give local artists an even greater opportunity to sell their talents, as we have the complete supply chain from studio, manufacturing, distribution and marketing".
Regency has been manufacturing Shock's physical product for many years.
Shock was founded in 1988 by David Williams, Frank Falvo and Andrew McGee. The first number one record for the company was 'Smash' by The Offspring.
Recent hits for Shock include albums from Black Keys, British India, The Prodigy and Parkway Drive.
