Promoter Paul Dainty says that Britney Spears is upset by the negative media reports she received from her first Australian concert in Perth last week.
“Britney is aware of all this and she’s extremely upset by it,” Dainty said in a statement to The Australian newspaper.Dainty blasted the inaccurate reporting of the concert with media stories claiming a mass walk-out after three songs at the first show. “”It’s the biggest lie I’ve ever heard,” Dainty said. “I’m embarrassed ... to be part of the Australian media when I see that kind of totally inaccurate reporting”.
A spokesperson for Burswood Stadium, where Britney performed her first two shows, also denies the “mass walk-out”. “Last night's concert (Friday) saw record crowds turn out for her first performance in Perth and from Burswood's perspective the event was a huge success. Early media reports that hundreds of fans left the concert early cannot be substantiated and Burswood has received no complaints about the concert,” the statement read.
Britney Spears has always been a “fast-food act”. Media trying to criticise the act for being plastic obviously have no idea who Britney is for starters. Her show has always been a big budget pop show aimed at kids and teenagers. She has never pretended to be anything but that and the fans know it.
A valid criticism for the show should be that it doesn’t have big screens for people in the back seats to get a close-up view of the singer.
