A remake of The Crow has ditched its writer and rumour has it Nick Cave will step in.
It must be movie day here at Undercover: Gwyneth sings country, Terry Gilliam directs Arcade Fire, and now Nick Cave has been put forward as the man to rewrite The Crow.The Wrap reports that producer Ed Pressman has tapped Nick Cave's creative brain after the previous screenplay by Stephen Norrington (who wrote Blade) wasn't up to scratch.
Even if the rumour doesn't amount to anything, it would certainly make sense to approach Cave and draw upon his gothic sensibility.
Cave had success with the brooding screenplays to two John Hillcoat films (1988's Ghosts… Of The Civil Dead and 2005's The Proposition), as well as his recent novel The Death Of Bunny Munro.
In 2006, Cave was listed as one of Variety magazines 'Ten Screenwriters To Watch'.
This was, of course, before he wrote a hilariously over-the-top Gladiator sequel screenplay which was deemed unfilmable. Maybe the same thing will happen with this Crow news...
Besides, Cave is currently busy plugging the second Grinderman album, which had a couple of riveting promo teaser videos directed by… John Hillcoat.
