Melbourne/Canberra fashion band Young And Restless prepare for a big 2007.
Young And Restless have already had a soaring 2006. The group have been playing at uber-cool venues around Melbourne and Sydney during the year but had a breakthrough by winning a competition as part of Triple J's Unearthed to play at Sydney's Homebake festival at the start of December via their song 'Satan'.Now the band are preparing their screechy, jagged new wave rock for a yet to be titled debut album for release in 2007. They started recording the twelve songs with Tom Larkin of New Zealand rockers Shihad in October.
Formed in Canberra in April 2005, the group led by firecracker Karina Utomo shot through hipster circles upon moving to Melbourne rock central playing alongside Die!Die!Die!, Damn Arms and for the Suicide Girls performances. They've been featured on NME's New Bands section and reportedly plan an international showcase tour in February and March next year following the release of their debut album.
And sadly, it seems they've also completed another musical rite of passage, having some gear stolen in early December. We trust they'll have better luck in 2007.
