Rancid bassist Matt Freeman grabs his upright bass for forthcoming Devil’s Brigade album.
The Devil's Brigade side project consists of tunes that Freeman and Rancid singer Tim Armstrong worked on during a break from touring with Rancid. The songs were initially going to be part of a musical about the building of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge, an icon close to Rancid's heart.
The musical was going to be called the Half Way To Hell Club but the songs have now ended up on the debut self-titled album for Devil's Brigade.
Freeman and DJ Bonebrake from LA punk legends X hit the studio early in the year, with Rancid bandmates Armstrong and Lars Frederiksen guesting on two songs.
The twelve-track album will be released on Armstrong's Hellcat Records on August 27.
