Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme is reviving his label Rekords Rekords and working on a classic reissue.
The boutique label was initially set up after the demise of legendary stoner rock label Man's Ruin, to release Homme's Desert Sessions albums and material by Eagles Of Death Metal, Fatso Jetson and Mondo Generator.Homme told Rolling Stone that he'll revive the label with the backing of indie Dangerbird, releasing new Desert Sessions albums and QOTSA guitarist Alain Johannes' solo debut Spark, a tribute to his late wife, Queens' keyboardist Natasha Shneider.
He says it will be a passion project, a "Wolfman Jack" idea where Homme's taste dictates the catalogue. The label will also release art books and DVDs.
Yet it won't be Rekords Rekords but Universal who will release the 10th anniversary reissue of Queens Of The Stone Age's landmark second album and major label debut Rated R. The new version will feature additional b-sides, covers and live tracks.
After touring with Grohl/Homme/Jones supergroup Them Crooked Vultures and Euro summer festival dates with Queens, Homme will head back into the studio to work on Queens album number six, due for release mid-2011.
