That New York band who sounds like those London bands, The Rapture, launch a vanity label and new tour.
Pitchfork reports that the jaunty post-punk disco outfit needed a storehouse to release their vinyl and remixes efforts so they set up the mightily-named Throne Of Blood label. The first release was the debut single 'Get Myself Into It' from their 2006 album 'Pieces Of The People We Love', which hit number 36 in the UK.The band announced that they plan to work with "some of the most influential producers in dance music" to remix their songs. The second UK single 'Whoo! Alright-Yeah...Uh Huh (People Don't Dance No More)' features remixes on the b-side from UK DJs Simian Mobile Disco and San Franciscan producer Claude Von Stroke.
Commenting on the bizarre title of the single, bassist and vocalist Matt Safer quipped on their website "I always wanted to have some f***ing parentheses in a song title. It's so Janet Jackson".
The outfit are focussing heavily on the UK, announcing a February 2007 tour and a part in the NME Awards show at the London Astoria.
