Australia was the most successful market in the world for Abba per capita. How appropriate that the first place outside Europe for Abbaworld to visit is Australia.
The exhibition takes you on an interactive journey through the history and music of Abba, starting pre-Abba when the four members, Bjorn, Benny, Frida and Agnetha, were all individual stars in Sweden. For Sweden, Abba was a supergroup from the very start when Bjorn Ulvaeus from the Hootenanny Singers, solo singer Anni-Frid Lyngstad, hit singer Agnetha Faltskog and Benny Andersson from the Hep Stars formed the group.
Abbaworld is a museum about one of the world's biggest pop groups.
The interactive display keeps track of your visit. As you go from display to display, we will get to put your image in an Abba cover, sing along with an Abba song, dance to Abba music, remix an Abba song and do the Abba quiz.
When you get home, the content you produced can be downloaded for up to one week, giving you an interactive souvenir of your visit.
The displays include authentic costumes, Gold Records and a replica of Polar Studio, manager Stik Andersson's office including his diary and telephone directory, the group's writing hut on a Swedish island where they wrote many of their hits and their backstage dressing room.
The exhibition even includes a full-sized replica of the helicopter used on the cover of the Arrival album.
Abbaworld can take anywhere from one hour to numerous hours to go through, depending on how much of a fan you are.
The exhibition will be on a Federation Square in Melbourne until October 31. It will then tour Australia.
