Who let the cat out? That is the question EMI is asking today after someone sold a copy of the yet-to-be released Cat Empire album on eBay this week.
'Cinema' from The Cat Empire will not be available until the end of this month but a promotional copy of the record made its way to eBay this week and sold for $200.The seller of the album is not known although EMI are investigating.
The incident has led to a warning to media who are serviced in advance to give time for reviews that "This trust is not breached and this music is not shared, sold or commercially exploited".
'Cinema' will be released on June 25. The band will perform a showcase event to be streamed live from the Toff In Town in Melbourne on Sunday, June 20 to launch the album.
'Cinema' was recorded in Melbourne at the Sing Sing Studios in Richmond by producer Steven Schram.
The Cat Empire will head to the USA in July for a North American tour and then play Europe in October and Japan in November.
