The Cat Empire frontman Felix Riebl is set to release a solo concept album in July with a tour to follow.
Felix Riebl has fronted platinum-selling jazz fusion party band The Cat Empire for over a decade and now branches out with his solo debut Into The Rain.
The album is described in a press release as a “free-flowing, dark and moving story album” with a vintage ‘70s recording approach, laid down at Sing Sing Studios in Melbourne.
While he’s solo, he’s not completely alone, assembling a fine line-up of talent, including drummer Danny Farrugia, bassist Ryan Monro; organist Ben Grayson and guitarist Ben Edgar on acoustic, electric and slide.
This backing band will also form a touring line-up for a set of shows yet to be announced.
But first, the album. Into The Rain will be released on July 1, with the first single ‘Wide Open Rivers’ coming in early May.
