Legendary metal label Roadrunner Records will become a part of the Warner Music Group after a deal struck yesterday.
WMG purchased 73.5% of the company for $US73.5million off Universal Music Group.As part of the deal, Roadrunner will be a freestanding company under the WMG banner both in the USA and internationally and no jobs will be affected by the purchase.
Roadrunner managing director and founder Cees Wessels will continue to run the company.
The purchase includes the catalogues of Nickelback, Slipknot, Trivium, Machine Head, Fear Factory, Stone Sour, The Murderdolls and an array of the world's toughest metal acts for the last 26 years.
Wessels founded the company in the Netherlands in 1980 and has driven it to become the world's largest metal-dedicated label in the world.
The company's head office is in the Netherlands with offices in New York, United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, France, Australia and Canada. All offices will be business as usual.
