Anything that gives independent bands a platform to take on other music distribution services head-on is a-okay by me.
The Holding Pattern is an online market-place that allows independent artists to promote, sell and license their music. In doing so the site has gathered momentum and the notice of mega distribution channel MGM who will showcase their entire independent catalogue on line with these guys. U.K distributor Ditto Music will follow suit to create the world biggest independent music presence online.
CEO Nick Arnold explains, " The virtual shelves of our little indie store are packed an expanding further everyday with some of the most amazing independent music on the planet." Arnold adds, " We offer real digital sales and licensing revenue to artists. We provide a better deal to independent artists because we are small and independent."
The benefit of the collaboration with a big gun like MGM is that their catalogue will draw more traffic to the site and thus expose the featured independents, who incidentally, retain full copyright control.
