The Rascals, who had the hits `Groovin` and ‘Good Lovin’ in the 60s, are getting back together with the four original members for the first time in 40 years.
Felix Cavaliere, Eddie Brigati, Gene Cornish and Dino Danelli will perform a benefit show for the Kristen Ann Carr fund. Kristen Carr was the daughter of Bruce Springsteen’s co-manager Barbra Carr. The fund raises money for the fight against cancer.The concert will take place at Robert De Niro’s Tribeca Grill in Manhattan tonight (April 24).
The Young Rascals, as they were original known, formed in New York in 1965.
Their debut single was ‘I Ain’t Gonna Eat Out My Heart Anymore’, a hit again 30 years later for Australia’s Divinyls.
Next came ‘Good Lovin’, ‘You Better Run’ (later covered by Pat Benatar), ‘Groovin’ and ‘How Can I Be Sure’.
In the 80s, Danelli joined Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul. Little Steven will perform at the benefit tonight as well.
