Screen iconic Dennis Hopper has become the 2,403rd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The frail actor, who is in the latter stages of prostate cancer, turned out for the unveiling of his star outside 6712 Hollywood Blvd. He now weighs just 45 kilos (100 pounds).Hopper shares his location with Cate Blanchett, Dolly Parton, Diana Ross, James Cameron, Scatman Crothers, Cameron Diaz and Richard Donner.
Hopper’s good friend and Easy Rider co-star Jack Nicholson came along for the ceremony. David Lynch and Dwight Yoakham were there. Hopper’s friend of 20-years, actor Viggo Mortensen told the crowd "My love for him is unconditional. We have continued to share a mutual curiosity in our artistic way of living life. Dennis Hopper has remained a constant source of ideas, humor and inspiration. He keeps himself honest and those around him honest. His candor and his modesty inspire fearlessness in others - this sets him apart as an artist and as a friend."
The public appearance is expected to be Hopper’s last. Doctor’s give the star maybe just weeks to live.
