Dave Faulkner of Hoodoo Gurus fame played his first ever live show for a few dozen people in Austin today (March 17, 2010).
Faulkner left his Gurus behind in Sydney to represent the band at SXSW ahead of the release of the 9th Gurus studio album and only third album in 14 years, ‘Purity of Essence’.He took to the front courtyard at Joe’s bar in Austin to sing up a few tunes for the lunchtime crowd.
It was obvious he missed the other guys too. Dave described the bit Brad would do during one song, in another pointing out the missing backing vocals you would hear if you heard the album.
Dave Faulkner was performing for Cary Baker’s annual Conqueroo party. Steve Poltz, Anne McCue and James McMurtry also played at the bar.
