In 2007 Pegi Young released her self-titled wonderful debut album. It was 25 years in the making.
The album was a collection of songs, some dating back decades and then finally released. Some were from writers she loves, like Will Jennings, Dann Penn and Spooner Oldham. Some were new.Pegi has never been one to take the spotlight. She doesn’t have to. Apparently there is some other guy in the family more famous than her. However, if it is okay to drive the family car, then it is okay to drive the family band.
Ben Keith, Rick Rosas and Chad Cromwell are certainly family for Pegi Young. They will be her band at her SXSW showcase this Wednesday. That “young” bloke she has on guitar might tag along as well.
I’ve been hanging out for Pegi’s second album ‘Foul Deeds’. She told us about it when she was in Australia last year. It was meant to come out in 2009 but for whatever reason was “postponed until further notice”, her website states.
I suspect it might not be far off now, especially considering the SXSW appearance.
Pegi and the band will perform at the Vapor Records showcase on Wednesday night at Maggie Mae’s in Austin, Texas.
