It was our great pleasure to have Meat Loaf lock us in a room and play his new album from beginning to end today.
Meat Loaf popped in for an Undercover interview today and being a fan of the old stuff asked him about that pre-Bat Out Of Hell album he did, the 1976 `Free For All` album by Ted Nugent. That was one year before the release of `Bat Out Of Hell`.He had a great story. He said he was paid $1000 for the entire session.
He sang every song on the album and pretty much did all of the arrangements but at the time he said he needed the money.
Meat Loaf told Undercover that after he agreed to do the album he was sent a lyric sheet for every song, just the words, not the arrangements. He had no idea what the songs were going to sound like so he had to make it up as he went along.
Ted Nugent paid him $1000 for his two days work. Meat Loaf is the lead singer on every song on that album.
Meat Loaf is wrapping up his Aussie promo tour after caging up media peeps in a locked room and making us listen to every song from beginning to end on his next album ‘Hang Cool Reddy Bear’.
The album is based on a short story by Killian Kerwin. It features songs by Jon Bon Jovi, Justin Hawkins and Kara Dioguardi as well as guest appearances from Hugh Laurie and Jack Black.
‘Hang Cool Teddy Bear’ will be released in April.
