Iggy & The Stooges will launch their first new album in 30 years at SxSW in Austin, Texas next March.
The band has been confirmed for a spot on March 17 at the Music Festival and Conference.The new Stooges album will be titled 'The Weirdness'. Although a few new Stooges tracks appeared on Iggy Pop's recent solo album 'Skull Ring', 'The Weirdness' will be The Stooges first album on new material since 1973's 'Raw Power'.
The new album features original members Pop and Asheton brothers Ron and Scott along with Minutemen and Firehouse punk legend Mike Watt and saxophone player Steve Mackay.
The Stooges reformed for a series of gigs in recent years and played earlier this year at The Big Day Out in Australia.
'The Weirdness' was recorded in Chicago with producer Steve Albini and is currently being mastered at Abbey Road Studios in London.
The album will be released through Virgin Records on March 20.
