Rubinoos next record will be for the kids. The Berkley power-pop band has recorded an album designed for preschoolers.
‘Biff-Bogg-Boing’ features 12 songs with “kid appeal” like ‘Peanut Butter’, ‘You Can’t Roller Skate in a Buffalo Herd’ and ‘Have A Cow’.Rubinoos founders Jon Rubin and Tommy Dunbar met at school in 1968 and according to the guys recorded the album because "We've been acting like kids for the better part of our so-called adult lives so we thought it was high time we adjusted our act for kids."
The album was “market tested” on a kindergarten class in Point Richmond, CA. “My students love to sing and dance to the songs on Biff - Boff - Boing! The CD has already become a class favorite! The kindergarten crowd especially loves the 'Peanut Butter' song, and 'Rockin' In The Jungle' is perfect for the freeze dance. The First Lady wants to get kids to exercise and get their bodies moving and Biff - Boff - Boing! will do the trick! So let's all get up and dance," said teacher Patricia Gangwer.
The Rubinoos' current line-up consists of co-founders Rubin (vocals) and Dunbar (guitar and vocals), bassist Al Chan who has been with the group for a mere 30 years as well as Susie Davis on keyboards and vocals and drummer David Rokeach.
