Francis Rossi Loses His Ponytail For The Queen

Status Quo co-founder Francis Rossi has had a haircut. After more than 40 years Francis cut off his ponytail before he met the Queen to receive his O.B.E..

Queen Elizabeth II presented Rossi and Quo’s Rick Parfitt with the Order of the British Empire award at Buckingham Palace on Friday (February 12)

“She was lovely,” Parfitt told the BBC later.

“She was quite impressed we have been together that long,” added Rossi. “She is such a professional woman. The whole thing is so professionally done to make everybody feel good to receive it”.

Queen Elizabeth noted the longevity of the Parfitt and Rossi working relationship as they spoke.

She said “I’ve seen the two of you and noticed you’ve been together for so long”, Francis said. “We had met her before. We played for her for the decommissioning of the troops back when The Wall came down in Berlin. That was the first time we met. Then we came to a party here a couple of years ago and had a nice chat to her then. She’s really lovely.”

So what to the classic rockers think of it all? “We’ve become establishment,” Francis said. “Mild men” added Rick, “But it still has to rock on stage”.
