Finabah, the winners of Commercial Radio Australia`s NA2R rock category, will hit South Australia, Victoria and Queensland from February 12.
Finabah, named after their guitarists dog, will do the first show of their ‘Everybody Jump’ tour at The Producer Bar at the Electric Light Hotel in Adelaide on Friday, Feb 12 before heading to Melbourne and then back to Queensland.The dog name took on a new meaning when they finally had it translated. “Our guitarist was given a dog - named Finabah - as a parting gift from his Swedish neighbours,” says bassist Brendan Langfield. “The band started the same time the dog passed away, and we adopted the name in loving memory. It wasn’t until recently we were informed by a Swedish fan that it roughly translates to: ‘Fina’ meaning cool, and ‘bah’ meaning yeah?.. cool yeah??”
Finabah picked up the NA2R award last September with ‘Everybody Jump (When They Tell You How High)’ “The track was heavily inspired by the modern fashion industry, and everyone’s struggle to be different,” says Langfield. “It seems a lot of the time people are so concerned with being ‘trendy’ and ‘unique’ that they forget about who they really are”.
As a result of winning NA2R, Finabah picked up $150,000 worth of radio advertising and a distribution deal with MGM.
The ‘Everybody Jump’ tour is just the start of a lot of 2010 activity. They also have the 2010 Rock The Schools tour coming up for 6 weeks from June.
The past has seen the band perform more than 500 shows to date including Taste of Chaos with The Used and Rise Against in 2007.
The ‘Everybody Jump’ tour will conclude in their hometown of Toowoomba.
