When Brian Ritchie of Violent Femmes visited Undercover a year ago he told us he was working on a new album of surf songs with the members of Midnight Oil. Well, now it has a name. They are called The Break.
The Break is Ritchie on bass with Rob Hirst, Jim Moginie and Martin Rotsey from the Oils.In April, they will release that long awaited album called ‘Church of the Open Sky’, featuring 15 mostly instrumental tunes of psycho surf rock.
Nick Launay, who produced many of the great Oils albums as well as Nick Cave and Silverchair mixed the first single ‘Cylinders’ in L.A.. It will be available from iTunes on February 9.
Meanwhile The Break will play a few shows in February.
