It's always hard to review a genre of music you're not particularly familiar with. Bluesy Folk tracks are definitely one of those things I haven't spent a lot of time listening to. However after listening to Jordie Lane's 'Not Built To Last' I have come to love it.
Lane is like a rare diamond, you want to keep it all to yourself however at the same time you want to show any one you can. That's a strange explanation but that's exactly the feeling you get when you listen to his voice. He truly is a musical anomaly.
His voice straight up commands you to listen. It not only captures and holds your attention, it puts you in a trance and a state of momentary bliss. The soft guitars and beautiful vocals will have you playing the EP on repeat.
Listening to 'Not Built To Last' it is easy to see how far his song writing has progressed since his last work. Lane takes you on a personal journey with every word. When you listen to this EP you feel as though you have known Lane for your entire life – it almost seems as though each track forms a person bond.
It is almost hard to believe that Lane is a fresh 25 years old. Through his mellow rhythm and nostalgic lyrics he expresses both wisdom and experience that seem beyond his years. One thing is obvious and that is that he is a born story teller.
The song to listen out for on 'Not Built To Lasts' is an obvious choice: 'Lost In You' because each word makes you fall more and more in love with Jordie Lane (and we think more people need to experience that feeling)
