Rufus Wainwright has had to cancel his Australian tour due to an illness in his family.
This means the upcoming date for A Day On The Green with Paul Kelly on February 20 has also been cancelled.A Day On the Green promoter Michael Newton said in a statement, “We are all incredibly disappointed that Rufus has had to cancel his tour. Unfortunately we have no time to secure another artist of the same calibre to replace him as the co-headline act, which makes it economically unviable to continue with the show. “We hope we will see Rufus at ‘a day on the green’ next summer.”
The concert would have been the second A Day On The Green concert for the Scotchman’s Hill winery. The first, coming up on February 6, features Rob Thomas, Vanessa Amorosi, Thirsty Merc and Rushcutter.
Rufus Wainwright shows for New Zealand as well as the Victorian and Tasmanian A Day On The Green shows have been cancelled as the promoter was not able to secure a suitable replacement for Wainwright.
Ticket holders can now get a full refund and will be given priority ticket allocation when Rufus returns to Australia later in 2010.
