Welsh opera starlet Charlotte Church has parted ways with her label Sony BMG, claiming she wants to focus on TV presenting.
Church, who is only 20 years old, released five albums with the label, fulfilling all contractual obligations and according to her publicist, decided not to renew with the label.Media reports suggest she was dropped from the label, although none offer a better source than "a source tells us...".
Church was signed to the label at the age of 12 and billed as a child prodigy. As she grew up, tabloid reporters nabbed her on drinking binges and articles criticizing her weight sprung up everywhere.
She was one of the first of the current wave of pop-opera singers (yes, I refuse to use that term "popera") selling over 10 million albums worldwide.
In September this year, her own variety show 'The Charlotte Church Show' debuted in the U.K.
