Status Quo rockers Rick Parfitt and Francis Rossi have been honoured with the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by the Queen.
In a statement to the Telegraph Rossi said, “I’m not sure we’re worthy,” when asked about the honours. He said that rock stars who turned down honours were “********s. It frightened the pants off me when I got the letter because it comes from the Government. No matter how you feel about these things, it means that people have recognised what we've done.”His band-mate Parfitt was a little more laidback about the honour. “It's New Years' Eve - I'm historically in bed before all those celebrations”, he told the Telegraph.
The OBE was established by King George V in 1917.
Rossi and Parfitt have contributed over the years to the Prince’s Trust, the Heart Foundation and Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy.
Status Quo have had over 60 chart hits in the UK.
