The UK competition regulator has cleared the way for Ticketmaster and Live Nation to merge, making it the most powerful music company of the planet.
The UK ruling means the merger can now fast-track and the new company is expected the change the way the music business does business.For starters, it now puts management, recording, ticket sales, concert venues and merchandise into one package. The term ‘360 degree’ model now has a juggernaut.
Ticketmaster earlier merger with Irving Azoff’s Front Line Management, home to the Eagles, Christina Aguilera, Neil Diamond, Guns N’ Roses, Van Halen and many of the world’s major acts.
Azoff now runs the merged company.
The merger will allow an act like the Eagles to be managed, the record and to tour all under one deal, making Azoff the most powerful music executive on the planet.
Ticketmaster works in 20 countries, including Australia. It has 7,100 retail outlets. Live Nation owns 159 venues.
