R. Kelly has a book on the way. His memoirs will be published through SmileyBooks.
Kelly (born Robert Sylvester Kelly) says the book will be about Robert, not R. "I'm writing this book as Robert, not R. Kelly. I'm tired of being misunderstood,” he explains. “I will show you the tears, fears, and sweat. I will open my heart and reveal the good in my life as well as all the drama. I want to tell it like it is."Kelly has recruited celebrity author David Ritz to co-write the book. He will talk openly about the death of his mother, the song ‘You Are Not Alone’ that he write for Michael Jackson and the six-year legal ordeal over child pornography that almost destroyed his career.
Ritz has worked on books about Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin.
“The collaboration between Kelly and Ritz is destined to captivate readers”, says SmileyBooks President Cheryl Woodruff.
The book is planned for release in 2011.
