R&B star R. Kelly will finally face the court in May on child pornography charges.
The singer was due in court last week but failed to show. His excuse was that en route to the hearing, police stopped his bus-driver and ordered him to rest for 8 hours, causing Kelly to miss his court appearance. He appeared in court the following morning. While the judge reluctantly accepted the excuse, Kelly has been ordered to attend another hearing in January and will face trial on May 9.
The case stems from charges laid against Kelly 5 years ago for an incident that allegedly happened in 2000. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges of videotaping a 12 or 13 year old girl performing sex acts.
His lawyers claim that it is not Kelly in the video tape and that his likeness may have been computer generated.
