A facebook group knows as “RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE FOR CHRISTMAS NO.1” is aiming to make the Californian rap-metal band’s 1992 hit ‘Killing In The Name’ hit the top of the charts this Christmas.
The group’s mission statement is:“Fed up of Simon Cowell's latest karaoke act being Christmas No.1?
“Me too... So who's up for a mass-purchase of the track 'KILLING IN THE NAME' from December 13th (DON'T BUY IT YET!) as a protest to the X-Factor monotony?”
This only will count if you’re buying it from the UK, (how many Australians can actually name any X-Factor winners?).
If you want to help push crap TV stars off your Christmas charts, click here for more information. The group will post links to chart-affiliated sites where you can buy the track from.
I know what you’re thinking. Why RATM? Surely there are better protest songs than ‘Killing In The Name’? What am I, 15 and angsty again? Well, sure, you have a point, but spend the quid or so it takes to push crap karaoke stars off the charts and be really satisfied that you have made a real difference this Christmas.
REMEMBER, THIS ONLY COUNTS IF YOU BUY IT FROM THE U.K.
At last count, the group had 447,152 members, which just might do it.
