Jeff Buckley will be the subject of an exhibition at the RAW Gallery in Melbourne from tomorrow (Friday, November 27).
It has been 12 years since the singer/songwriter lost his life in the Mississippi River.Brooklyn based photographer Merri Cyr documented Buckley in pictures between 1992 and 1997. Her work will be on show at the exhibition.
Merri will have almost 40 images of Jeff Buckley on display. That’s her work you see on the cover of the ‘Live In Sin-e EP’ from 1993. “I had not shot album covers before and nobody knew who I was at Sony,” she said in a statement. “He knew I was the one for the job and insisted that it happened. I will never forget that; it opened doors for me creatively and professionally and I believe that is because he trusted me and had faith in my work. I loved him for that.”
Merri will be in Australia for the exhibition and conduct a lecture and book signing this Sunday November 29 at the gallery.
The Buckley exhibition will be open from November 27 until December 24.
The RAW Gallery is at 250 Park St, South Melbourne.
