Success for the Bon Jovi `The Circle` album was short-lived with the album falling right out of the top 10 after debuting at number 1 last week. Replacing the album on top is John Mayer `Battle Studies` with almost twice the sales Bon Jovi had the in the first week.
John Mayer ‘Battle Studios’ sold more than 300,000 units last week compared to around 160,000 for Bon Jovi ‘The Circle’ the week before.Meantime, ‘The Circle’ was down around 70% in sales in week two pushing the Bon Jovi album dangerously close to falling out of the top 20 completely.
Bon Jovi’s last album ‘Lost Highway’ did 292,000 sales in week one and sold 1.2 million in the USA. The previous album ‘Have A Nice Day’ did 202,000 sales in week one and sold 1.5 million in the USA.
Mayer’s last album was ‘Continuum’ in 2006. It sold 300,000 in week one and went on to sell 2.2 million in the USA.
Mayer, who is constantly in touch with his fans via Twitter today posted “Battle Studies is officially the number 1 album in the US. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. What a way to spend Thanksgiving”.
Bon Jovi doesn't have a Twitter account and fans have no real way online to connect with the band. Maybe that's the problem!
