U2 have been booked to headline Glastonbury for the 40th anniversary of the festival.
Britain’s Sun newspaper has quoted a source as saying “Everyone is over the moon that the deal has been done.“Michael [Eavis, festival organiser] really wanted a huge name for the 40th anniversary and the fact U2 have never played Glastonbury in their 32-year career only adds to the mystique.”
Earlier this year Bono had said "I know lots of people want us to play. It's something we're working up our whole life to do. We really, really want to do this."
The band are scheduled for Friday June 25, 2010 during a break on their US tour.
According to The Telegraph, other acts rumoured to be appearing include The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Coldplay, Muse and Led Zeppelin (although I will believe that when I see it!)
The festival will take place on the last weekend of June, 2010.
