Linkin Park will be in Tokyo to headline Live Earth on July 7.
Live Earth, the global concert founded by Kevin Wall and partnered by Al Gore, is the start of a one year campaign to promote climate change.Linkin Park will headline the Japanese show. "Climate crisis awareness could be one of the defining issues of our generation, and we're proud to play this show in support of that effort," said Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park.
The concert will begin in Sydney Australia and continue across all 7 continents with the event in Tokyo, Japan; as well as Shanghai, China; Johannesburg, South Africa; London, United Kingdom; Hamburg, Germany; Istanbul, Turkey; and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, before concluding in New York, United States.
"The goal of Live Earth is to reach the largest audience possible with tools to tackle the climate crisis," said Wall. "Linkin Park's participation is an incredible boost to these efforts, and we hope their millions of fans worldwide will tune in to Live Earth on 7/7/7 and join our movement."
The concert is expected to be viewed by 2 billion people and will be the biggest music event ever undertaken.
Former Vice President of the United States Al Gore is the Chair of the Alliance for Climate Protection and a Partner of Live Earth.
