A song written by George Harrison in the 60s has been completed more than 40 years later by a British songwriter.
Harrison wrote 10 lines of ‘Silence (Is It’s Own Reply) and gave it to Hunter Davis to use in a Beatles biography but the paper it was written in was misplaced and the lyrics not used.Years later, they were found in the Abbey Road studios.
The lyrics were about Harrison’s relationship with John Lennon but were initially thought to have been about one of George’s loves.
On one side of the page were the lyrics "I'm happy to say that it's only a dream/When I come across people like you/It's only a dream and you make it obscene/With the things that you think and you do/You're so unaware of the pain that I bear/And jealous for what you can't do."
On the other side, directions to Beatles manager Brian Epstein’s house in Epstein’s handwriting, dating the song at least 43 years old.
The lyrics will finally be used in an updated version of Davis’ Beatles biography, for reprint next month.
