The Faces performed in London last night. Well, not all of them. Rod Stewart was missing.
Last night was a charity gig but instead of their famous lead throat, The Faces performed with former Rolling Stones bass player Bill Wyman and special guest throats Mel C, Mick Hucknall and Kiki Dee.Original members Ronnie Wood, Ian McLagan and Kenney Jones performed the show as a PRS for Music Benevolent Fund charity gig.
Drummer Jones said that the reunion may develop into a fully blown tour with Rod Stewart ... maybe. "I’d like to think it’s entirely possible and I think it’s on the cards,” he said. “I’d love to see it in 2010, if not the following year but time’s not on our side, the sooner we do it the better. Like I said it’s all subject to everyone’s busy schedules."
The Faces broke up in 1975 after Rod Stewart decided to go solo. Ronnie Wood left for the Stones.
In April this year, Ian McLagan confirmed to Undercover that Rod may do it one year, just not this year. “He has put the block on it for this year,’ he said. “It might happen next year. We rehearsed in November in London. It was loads of fun. We had a blast. We went through a dozen songs, reminisced and had a good time. Then I figured we would do something this summer but he is touring with his own stuff so he has knocked that on the head, but maybe it will happen next year”.
Its a shame the show went ahead with such a poor line-up replacing Rod. Its a sad time when a Spice Girl can fill the shoes of one of the greatest rock and roll singers of all time.
Hitler reacts to the news that Rod Stewart is not in The Faces reunion:
