Morrissey, the former singer for The Smiths, has left hospital after collapsing on stage at his Swindon show on Saturday night after the first song.
Morrissey collapsed at the end of the first song, ‘This Charming Man’. Band members rushed to his aid and the singer was transported to a nearby hospital.Audience members said that the singer appeared uncomfortable as soon as he came on stage. His opening words were “good evening ... probably”.
When Morrissey collapsed and was taken off stage, the audience started booing thinking it was a stunt. Most people in the audience did not realise how serious it was until it was certain that Morrissey would not be returning.
A statement at his official website reads, “Morrissey is in stable condition after his collapse in Swindon Saturday night”.
Morrissey’s show tonight at Bournemouth Opera House has been cancelled but he hopes to be well enough for his Royal Albert Hall show tomorrow (October 27). The Royal Albert Hall show is the rescheduled show from May 11 when Morrissey was too ill to perform.
