The Temper Trap have been nominated for The Age EG Music Awards for 2009 with four nominations.
The Melbourne band is up for Best Album, Best Song, Best Group and Coopers Best Homegrown New Artist for the awards on November 20.‘‘It’s been a great week,’’ says the Temper Trap guitarist Lorenzo Sillitto in a statement. ‘‘We’ve been out of the market for most of the year so we thought that people might not care so it’s special to come back and get these nominations.’’
Empire of the Sun have three nominations. Little Birdy, Paul Dempsey, Sarah Blasko and Bertie Blackman also have multiple nominations.
EG editor Jo Roberts added, “It makes us especially proud to see artists we’ve supported go on to kick goals internationally. The EG Awards are one way readers can also show their love for our artists.”
The Age EG Awards will also feature a rare appearance from the original line-up of Melbourne punk icons Painters and Dockers.
The awards will be handed down at The Prince Bandroom, St Kilda on November 20.
