Bloc Party drummer Matt Tong suffered a collapsed lung during a show, forcing the band to cancel their US tour.
The UK post-punk new wave sensations have been preparing for the release of their follow-up album 'A Weekend In The City', due out in February 2007. In their efforts to get a foothold in the US market before the release, they have been touring with emo-pop sensations Panic! At The Disco and Jack's Mannequin. After a performance in Atlanta, Tong suffered a collapsed lung and had to be treated at a local hospital. He was held under observation for three days, a release on Bloc Party's website saying, "Doctors at the hospital in Atlanta say Matt is in a comfortable condition and not in any danger".
They cancelled their next three shows but after doctors advised the energetic Tong not to play or travel for a couple of weeks, they cancelled the rest of the bands US dates through November and December.
Frontman Kele Okereke apologised on their site, and assured fans "Matt's health is our number one priority right now." The band's next tour is planned through the UK in January and February 2007.
