Thousands of Boyzone fans have started to gather in Dublin today for the funeral of Stephen Gately.
The 33-year old singer passed away in Majorca last weekend after an all-night alcohol binge. The official cause of death was fluid on the lungs, which was enhanced by an undetected hereditary heart condition.The body of Gately was flown into Dublin yesterday with his Boyzone band-mates making the pilgrimage on the plane with Stephen’s family and husband Andy Cowles.
The funeral will be held Saturday in Dublin with many celebrities including Gary Barlow, Westlife, David Furnish and Louis Walsh on the list to attend.
Irish performer Tony Kenny will sing ‘My Son’ at the request of Stephen’s mother Margaret. Boyzone will sing ‘In This Life’.
This week, Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Mikey Graham and Shane Lynch each had tattoos labelled ’76 09’ to mark Gately’s birth and death.
