The Doors catalogue is getting a digital make-over for the band's 40th Anniversary.
The new 12 disc boxed set will feature all 6 albums digitally remastered as well as a second DVD featuring the albums in 5.1 DTS encoded Surround Sound, as well as bonus videos, a photo gallery, discography and lyrics.Journalist Ben Fong-Torres, a chief writer for Rolling Stone magazine during The Doors heyday, has written the liner notes for the new collection.
The Doors debut album came out in January 1967. It featured their rock classic 'Light My Fire' and the epic 'The End'.
The second album 'Strange Days' was released in October that same year.
'Waiting For The Sun' was the third album. It was released in 1968. The new version features the bonus 17 minute track 'Celebration of the Lizard'.
Next came 'The Soft parade' in 1969. This was the album that featured the classic 'Touch Me'. A previously unreleased version of 'Touch Me' is on the new album.
In 1970, The Doors released their 5th album 'Morrison Hotel'. It featured 'Roadhouse Blues'.
The final album was 'LA Woman' in 1971. It came out shortly before the death of Jim Morrison. 'LA Woman' featured 'Love Her Madly' and 'Riders On The Storm'.
To coincide with the reissues, 'The Doors by The Doors', the first authorized book by all remaining members of the band, will be released in November on Hyperion.
