`Fame The Musical` will return to Australian stages in April and auditions are about to open.
So who wants to star in Fame The Musical?Auditions will be held in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne over the next two weeks.
‘Fame’ is the story of the kids from New York’s School for the Performing Arts who inspired a generation. The original school graduates included Alicia Keys, Suzanne Vega and Jennifer Anniston.
The movie made a star of Irene Cara back in 1980. A TV show based on the story ran for six seasons. The musical in London ran for more than a decade.
“We are currently looking for 30 young and dynamic dancers/singers of all cultural backgrounds,” says John Frost. “We expect to see hundreds at the auditions, most of them in leg warmers and leotards”.
Frost says the show is a good alternative for kids who may normally audition for Australian Idol. “This is a show with wonderful songs and sensational dancing,” he says. “The fact that the public can’t get enough of Australian Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing With The Stars and Masterchef - like Fame all about aspiration and inspiration. - tells me that the time is right for this spectacular new show.”
Auditions will be held :
October 2 and 3, Brisbane, QPAC - Merivale Street Studios
October 5 to October 8, Sydney, Capitol Theatre
October 11 to October 14, Melbourne, Her Majesty’s Theatre
