Dave Graney must have extra sensory perception. The title track from his new album Knock Yourself Out fires a punch a disgraced Austereo radio bully Kyle Sandilands.
In ‘Knock Yourself Out’ Dave sings “Kyle and Jackie O / thin gruel / sav soup?thats the coloured water when you take the hot dogs out?death by a thousand sucks / that guy would give a dogs arse heartburn /?je suis le grand bouffe?/ un tres grande homme!”What great timing. The new Dave Graney album was released in June. He must have seen this coming.
Sandilands has been removed from his Austereo program although the official word from Austereo is that he on “recess”.
Rumours from staff within 2DAY today however suggest that Kyle has left the building and will not be back. The loud-mouth jock told listeners the day after he humiliated a 14-year old rape victim that he couldn’t see what all the fuse was about and Austereo director Guy Dobson told Undercover the fuss was all a big media beat-up.
However, after pressure from sponsor Optus who publicly stated the company disgust at the rape stunt, Austereo insiders are whispering to the media that the head of Kyle has already been chopped.
That is yet to be confirmed by Austereo who in turn are saying ‘the Kyle and Jackie O Show has gone into recess until we have completed an across-the-networks review of the principals and protocols of our interaction with our audience”.
Channel 10 also has to make a decision. Does it carry Kylie on Australian Idol this year and destroy the brand in the 10-17 demographic or does it cut its loses and earn some credibilty by dumping him?
Austereo investors are also nervous. The publicly listed stock (AEO) was down on trading today.
