Kevin Cogill, the guy who leaked Guns n Roses `Chinese Democracy` album tracks, has been sentenced to two months home detention and one year probation.
Cogill uploaded nine leaked tracks from the unreleased Guns n Roses album which were then downloaded million of times.He claims to have been given the tracks unsolicited and has been co-operating with the FBI in what could lead to further arrests.
The tracks were uploaded on June 18, 2008. It forced Axl Rose to finally released the ‘Chinese Democracy’ album 17 years after the conception of the album.
Under the terms of the sentence, Cogill will be required to help produce an anti-piracy public service announcement talking about the importance of protecting copyright holders.
