With the hibernation of Matchbox Twenty, and various members working on solo projects, both singer Rob Thomas and former guitarist Adam Gaynor have gone into entrepreneur mode.
Thomas is nurturing soundalike Hodges for the launch of his new record label while Gaynor has been co-managing and developing San Antonio rock band Electric Crush.Thomas discovered the talents of Hodges after the unknown singer scored a support gig in Portland. Hodges is now signed to Lippman Entertainment, the same management company that looks after the career of Thomas and Matchbox Twenty.
Gaynor met the guys from Electric Crush while he was filming interviews earlier in the year at Sturgis. The band has now relocated to Los Angeles where Gaynor is producing their next album.
Electric Crush will play the Viper Room on Sunset in West Hollywood on November 25th.
Meanwhile, Matchbox Twenty drummer Paul Doucette has recorded an album with his other band The Break and Repair Method. The band is currently shopping the record for a deal.
Matchbox's Kyle Cook likewise is releasing very different sounding music to the bands. Music from his band The New Left is available through iTunes.
